The concept is great especially for a paranoid parent, but this watch just doesn't cut it. After multiple conversations with customer service I was never to able to get the watch set up correctly. They admitted this was a common issue. The GPS map showed the location three states over. They were never even able to get the right time set on the watch. Also, even if it was working, the website is not up to par. It's slow and not set up well.
Having no confidence in the device, the service or the support, for me it isn't worth the hassle or the money (the base annual service fee is another $110.)
Also, the watch itself is too large to be worn by a small child for any prolonged period of time. The design isn't terrible, but no one is going to mistake this for a normal watch. Someone needs to take this idea and execute it better with a smaller device, intuitive website and good support. A reliable and functional device would be would be great for parental peace of mind when traveling or leaving children at birthday parties, camp, etc. This is not that device.

In general I agree with the comments about the num8's funtionality. However, I did purchase one and after updating the firmware, it has worked well. The wristband is large enough for older children and some adults, and I think that the watch's best use would not be to protect children from others, but would be for children or even some adults with cognitive or behavioral issues. In the event of a lost individual, the fact that the location given is not necessarily precise would not deter --and would help-- others to find the wearer. The lock does appear to be highly tamper proof.

I had it and sent it back. It never worked, and it was very uncomfortable for her, it hurt her wrist and left marks on her, the face is huge and the band was a made of a really tough rubbery material. It took days for me to get it set up and then it wouldn't be accurate, the time was always several hours off and I could never get into the web site. I wish they would come out with a product like this that actually did what it is supposed to... I had all kinds of issues once I returned it too... the customer service stinks, half of the time I got an answering machine and no one would ever call me back, or answer my emails-UNTIL I threatened a law suit. They kept charging my credit card after I returned it, it took me 3 months to get all of my money back. DO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! I ended up going to Best Buy and getting the Insignia, it doesn't do everything the Lok8u claims to do, but it never claimed to do them in the first place. It does what I need it too, locates, my daughter and lets me know when she enters or leaves a boundary-just wish it was waterproof. And I can hide it easily under her clothes, so no one realizes it's there (it's just a little bigger than a USB drive).
