Very buggy. I updated to the supposed latest firmware V0.34 off their website and the device stopped working 50% --- it sent SOS alerts to my cell, but I could not communicate to it anymore either from my cellphone or computer. Their support SLEEPS overtime and there is no one to help

I'm an owner of the AmberAlerG2 device - I have never had a problem with customer service and I have 3 units -Not so much as a glitch. I don't know where you are or what you're doing but that's not the company I know. I have had great service.

I find it totally mystifying if not amusing that Joe Spencer claims he has not one but three units, all of which worked without as much as a glitch, yet he is clearly vouching for their technical support! If everything worked so fine, why was he talking to their techs?? What an odd situation to have to explain... Ha Ha

Joe Spencer said he had no problem with Customer Service.. he said nothing about Tech Support.
Requesting to change your plan to another would explain his "odd situation". I find it disheartening that you feel compelled to bash a guy who simply left a positive comment.

OK, they did get finally back to me (since they admitted they have no support on weekends) and with a firmware upgrade the unit works fine now. No issue. The Firmware "upgrade" version they have on their website is Version 34, and it does NOT work. They conformed that too. The version they sent me privately via Email on Monday was Version 38 and that finally worked. So don't tell me my job. I an an Engineering Manager of both Software and Hardware teams of one of the world's biggest networking companies. But I do find it strange that a certain Mr Joe Spencer jumps on my previous comment with such benumbing alacrity that either he does nothing in real life except comb the web all day long, or more likely he is one of them. Note that the only people I informed myself (in all fairness) about my comment here was amberalertgps themselves. They responded on the weekend once I did, and I truly I hope they are not the ones trying to shout me down through this "Joe Spencer" because if so, it really does not matter how good or bad their product is.

OK, I finally did realize this is a very responsive company just dedicated to making the very best such device out there. I ended up buying and keeping two units, and returning units back to two other of their keen competitors. Reason? They have this really well-thought of - things like the simple SOS button (without a dead giveaway "SOS" written on it), no way to locally power it off unless you do it over the cellphone or web. Good interface with cellphone, and configurable safety zones etc. Just the right feature set. They can improve it of course and I will work with them to do so hopefully. I noticed they suddenly added a weekend emergency response tab and updated their website with the latest V38 firmware. As I said, I am now very convinced that they deserve all the success and will do whatever it takes to get there. Its a company that is forthright, willing to listen and certainly not into antagonizing customers like me. That's how they got me on board. Buy this device.

I don't believe Joe Spencer said anything offensive toward you so to start taking personal jabs on someone you don't even know is really ridiculous. perhaps you might be the one needing better things to do with your time. this is about buyer reviews. you gave yours and he gave his - thats what this' all about. dont turn into a troll about it..thats of no help to anyone.

I noticed Amanda that yours doesn't qualify to be a review either, does it? Why are you so involved in taking sides?

Hee hee. Your review struck me funny. What (or who) were you hiding deep inside the trunk of a car and why??? LOL Thinking of getting this device for my son with Down Syndrome. He is a non-verbal Houdini and with 5 other kids in the house doors are constantly opening and if he catches it before it closes - he's gone! Does the device alarm when removed (like from a wrist or ankle bracelet)? I worry he will get it off and I won't know.

After using it for a month I can say it is really a wonderful unit. Sure it has some issues like battery life, but it is incredibly sensitive and responsive. Works deep inside the trunk of a car with no problem. Excellent feature set. I moved to unlimited plan though, as I don't want to get hit by sudden charges ;-). Happy camper now. Company has been very professional in their attitude (mostly).

I bought one of these and it worked okay until we updated the firmware. Then it stopped working. The company sent a replacement that was supposed to work, but it had the same problems as the first.

The also ended up charging us a second monthly fee for the replacement unit.

I feel like I paid hundreds of dollars to end up in a failed beta testing group. It has been very frustrating. I gave up trying to get the thing to work and just decided to ride out the contract.

Our year is up so we can cancel now. I was so disappointed with this product. Hopefully they will get it worked out someday. It's a wonderful concept--if they could just make it work.
