It would be nice if you could do an article on what the companies in positions 4 onwards hope to achieve in the market. Are they competing on price, features or some other differentiator? Is their share of the US market sufficient to run a company profitably? Why would retailers even carry their products? (Do the retailers even have any space after all the Garmin models :-) You don't mention any of those brands in the buyers guide either.

That makes sense to me. Especially on the top three brands. Garmin does have good GPS and interface is simple to use, but they are missing quite a lot custom features found in Tom Tom. Also their latest nüLink download is slow on rush hours and Tom Tom Live download is only around one third of the time. Also the price on Gramin GPS is always way above both Tom Tom and Magellan. Magellan does not have attractive GPS units so far, plus their map update is too long. Introduction of new GPS units with new technology and features is falling behind competitors. It will be interesting to see what will happen in year 2010.
