Garmin has released its second US map update this year. Available as an electronic download, North America NT 2010.20 is available now via Garmin's website. nuMaps subscribers can download the update for free, as can anyone who purchased a qualifying nuvi within the past 30 days. My biggest issue with the maps is how bad the POI database is. A few years back I complained to Garmin about how several Fry's stores were listed in very old locations or not at all in the San Francisco Bay Area and pointed them Frys website to get correct and up to date list. Garmin's response was that they got the information from Dun & Bradstreet who are mostly a credit rating company for businesses (ie they rate the credit worthiness of companies which other companies want to know). They also indicated there would be no effort to fix the broken Frys POIs.
A simple test of this release would be to see if they still list Circuit City stores.
You might want to take a look at Garmin's nuMaps policy. You now have 60 days from the first time the GPS unit sees its first satellite.
Wow did I get lucky. I just purchased a Garmin 265wt yesterday (3 Aug) and was worried that I'd bought it mid-year and there'd possibly be a new update coming out after my 60 days were up. Updated the maps this morning. Sure enough, Garmin's/NavTeq's been busy. Quite a few smaller & private roads appeared on the map this afternoon that weren't there yesterday. Way to go Garmin! Well worth the ~3 hours to download and install onto the 265wt.
I have problem downloading the new 2010.20 map, as soon as the download manager started it stopped and the status is "error", I've tried in 3 different computers and I have turned off all the firewall and anti-virus programs. I even tried to download without the download manager but it complete with nothing downloaded. Anyone have the same issue ? And anyone know what's wrong ?

I was able to download the 2010 map update. However, the installation to my nuvi 760 would time out after 54% complete. I tried a second download and install with the same results. The nuvi will 'work' but no map detail is present. So far, I have not heard from Garmins' technical support which I sent to them on Sunday. This is day 3.
