WorldTracker Enduro Review

The WorldTracker Enduro is one of the smallest real-time GPS tracking devices available. Is it possible the vendor you purchase from can determine the quality of reporting?

I purchased this unit in August from a vendor I will not name and have been extremely disappointed. To their credit, early on they were helpful, even shipping a second unit because I thought maybe the first was defective based on the performance. (and if they didn't think so too, why would they ship me another?)

My mother-in-law, who lives in the Richmond district of San Francisco, has early dementia and we wanted the security of
knowing where she is.

Without going into too many details, over the last two months, since the first week I received it, I've exchanged emails with the vendor several times a week pleading for instructions on how to make the reporting work. There are hours at a time that go by without any reporting. They've had to remotely reboot the unit. There were a few days when it did work for awhile as promised, I'd ping and get an accurate report back but it was and is shocking to me that in the City the service would be so horrible. I've asked the vendor if he had suggestions as to what I could do or research on interference in the City. He asked if there were any "dead" spots where she lived (there are none - it's the City for goodness sake) He also suggested that having the unit in her purse could cause the lack of response. So I attached it to her purse strap and the reporting continued to deteriorate.

I asked him to explain the hours on non-response (no true or false) and was told my mother-in-law must be in a place where the signal can't reach.

I've asked for a refund, and, of course, they refuse because I've had the unit for more than 30 days (it doesn't matter that it never worked as advertised (and their fine print carrys the disclaimer that it doesn't have to hah, hah, hah). The joke is on the stupid, uneducated, desperate customer.

The city photos you include in your review shows are far more densely built landscape. I was surprised (and hopeful) after reading you had such good luck with your unit.

Any feedback you can give me would be most appreciated because, based on your well-written and thorough article, I believe you know what you are talking about. If there is a preferred vendor, please let me know who it is. I am still very interested in making this work.

Thank you for you time.

I too purchased this unit. It did not work when I first received it (no lights on front at all). I sent it to World Track. So far they have been helpful. They converted it back to the original state (it came with wires out for external battery). They shipped it back and it did turn on but it did not locate a signal. I called them and they rebooted the unit and sent it a signal. I was asked to drive around the block so it could find me. I did and it did. It worked beautifully for 1 day until the battery died. I thought it said 5-10 depending on pings but one day, come on......
