Designed for use with Garmin's Astro Dog Tracking System, the DC 30 is a redesigned GPS dog tracking collar that is more rugged, lighter, gets better reception, and has a lower-profile antenna. Used in conjunction with the Astro 220 receiver, the system pinpoints exactly where your dog is and what he's doing - running, pointing, or treeing - even in dense cover, up to seven miles away, depending on terrain. The collar retails for $199, and is expected to ship by the end of the summer.

This device is still too big to track the average cat.
This also is not appropriate for kid tracking, it is too big and won’t work inside a building.
just wondering if i can get new dc 30 colars sent to new zealand.
Small dogs such as toy maltese dogs need protection. Whats available?
Will this collar be any better than your first one? I do hope you stand behind this one a lot better that you have the others. You say the 20 should get 5 miles and must people I know get way less that 1/2 mile with it and you guys will not stand behind them when they dont work the way you have told all of us. You got all most 1000 dollars out of me and this is by far the biggest peice of junk I have ever put on a dog. I have won world hunts state hunts and hunt all the big hunts all over this country and garmin is the only one that I know of that does not stand behind their product.
Please hurry and get this out! My hunting improved greatly because of the system. I only had two issues: First, the velcro body strap would come off every once in a while and second, I had 1 antenna cover come off. I hunt Britt's and my shooting average last year was phenominal. I could let my dogs "range" into cover normally I would avoid because of the possibility of getting lost. I was hunting with others late in January and they did not want to let their dogs go into a huge patch of CRP because you would lose sight 15 feet away. They did not like to use beepers (neither do I) because they alert birds and birds would run or scatter.
Looking at the new collar, I know it will be an even bigger bonus and easier on the dogs. The other value will be early hunting. There is a lot more vegetation and a greater need to track the dogs. The body strap is hotter than the collar would be. No big deal in colder weather, but an issue hunting earlier.
If you need someone to test them for you let me know! I'm in the Kansas City area and familiar with your headquarter location! I'll even pick them up! You need a video to demonstrate the effectiveness of this. I'd volunteer for that too!
I forgot to tell ya. The hunt in January - I put my dogs in the CRP and within 15 minutes shot my 3 Roosters on two points. One dog had one Rooster on point. After shooting it and letting her retrieve, I went over to the other dog (I could not see her 30 feet away and used the GPS to locate her when it told me she was on point) and shot a double. The others hunting just shook their heads and sent their dogs through the milo patch instead.
I have had my Astro DC30 for two weeks. I am not impressed. Sometimes the collar works and next time I look it has lost communication with the collar. I think I have a broken collar, I can not find anyone else that has this problem. I will send it back because I know Garmin does not back up their products. If it worked 100% of the time it would be awsome.
