I think the video is excellent. Thanks for all the hard work.
I just have to say...
What's with the music? Great video, but you should re-upload it w/o the horrible music.
Great review but MUSIC SHOULD NOT BE SO LOUD!!!!
You guys would complaint if you got hung with a gold rope! ha ha ha
The music just doesn't "match". It is kinda loud too. It plays over some of the audio we should be hearing from the 880.
Nice video. Interesting music choice I must say. It kind of plays over some of the audio coming from the 880 early in the vid..

What do you see that other members on the form are not seeing.
GPSmagazine Rating: 4.8 of 5
Average Owner Rating: 3.7 of 5 (based on 9 owner ratings)
It's because the "star" rating system on this site is not clear on how to use it. On many sites you click the stars to go to a separate rating screen. Therefor the user ratings here will not be accurate. It all depends on if the user intended to hit a particular star, or was just clicking in the vicinity. Also, who knows how many of the clicks were done by actual users? I could click it if I wish, and I don't own one.

I did not check this feature when I was testing the Nuvi 880, can the Nuvi 880 access address book information that is stored on the unit under VR search?
I found each manufacturers have limited VR search ability.
Magellan 4250: Nearby POI, Return Home, where am I
TomTom 920: City and Street search but no address book search
Panasonic GP50U: VR address book search.
So can one perform VR search from the address book with the new Garmin Nuvi 880?
Thanks
You didn't use the voice recognition while you were driving. Was that because the road noise interfered with the voice recognition?
He uses the voice recognition while diving in one of the previous videos.
I test the Voice Recognition features starting at 2 minutes 14 seconds into the video -- you have to watch the whole 6 minutes to see the VR test as well as a real road test.

Did YouTube take down your Nuvi 880 demo?
Fletch:
I did watch the whole video. What I was trying to say was that you didn't use the VR while the car was actually moving. Was the because it didn't work well with all the road noise?
The VR worked exceptionally well in the car. There's a separate video showing the voice recognition while driving. The video is also shown in the VR section of the full nuvi 880 review.
Bottom line: the nuvi 880's vr worked very well, and supports almost all GPS functions.

Thank you very much. That was a wonderful and outside of CES-type shows, the first real-world demonstration of what Garmin calls the Automatic Speech Recognition ("ASR") feature I've seen. This is just the tip of the iceberg and will one day make non ASR-equipped GPSs obsolete -- or at least a huge PITA to use, comparatively. Anybody want to buy my old Nuvi 660 (I'm keeping my Zumo 550 but I bet I can rig this up w/a mic for the ASR there -- what an unbelievable improvement with an ASR GPS that actually works flawlessly).
The Nuvi 8xx is not perfect yet, but better than most PND currently offering VR feature!
Nuvi 880 has been very popular, flying off the shelves. No one seems to have inventory, wonder why?
Anyone having any issues using the bluetooth with a cellphone? We hooked it up yesterday and the cellphone reception is garbled to the point of being useless.
It seems several of you have purchased this already. May I ask from what website you purchased it from and at what price so I can alleviate the trust issue if I go "non-Amazon?" Thanks.
As with any other consumer eleectronic product, the price on the Nuvi 880, will come down. Be patient, if you would like to purchase this product but cannot justify the $1000 or so retail price. The Nuvi 880 is a first in speech recognition and the technology will only get better and affordable in time. Also, I feel once competitors get a product with comparable features as the 880, the retail price will fall. However, this is the hottest GPS in the offering and both mfg and retailer want to make their profit margins now while they can. The cycle is always the same, new product with new technology, which is really not new technology introduced at a high retail price. Then comes improvements and competition of the product plus a retailer will break the price at a lower retail, thus the cycle. The $1000 prduct is now at 700 or 800 dollars and the price of the unit erodes quickly from there. So if you absolutely have to own the Garmin Nuvi 880, go out and purchase it and enjoy it. As for me I will wait until the price comes down, which it will it always does to purchase a voice recognition GPS. Let us be very thankful that Uncle Sam is not charging us to use their satellites. Actually those satellites are the property of the US taxpayers, you and me. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
