InvisibleShield Keeps Your GPS Looking Like New

Available in custom sizes for over 2,000 devices, invisibleSHIELD sells full body protection kits for everything from Apple's MacBook Air to GPS units to digital cameras. I tested invisibleSHIELD and have to admit I'm a believer.

Originally designed to protect high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris, invisibleSHIELD is a thin, polyurethane film that doesn't scratch, adds no bulk to the device, doesn't interfere with GPS signal reception, uses no adhesive, and can easily be removed at any time. Read on for the full review and pricing details.

I want one for my car

There is also a competitor called "Best Skins Ever" www.bestskinsever.com

They are similar (some say slightly less) in quality, have fewer pre-cut sizes, and don't come with the application kit, but cost about 30% of the price. I can mix my own soap and water, thank you very much. I've had one on my iPod and cell phone and they still look brand new!

I installed invisibleShield on two Garmin GPSmap60cs handhelds several years ago and have been very satisfied with the product. Now, in researching the imminent purchase of a Garmin nuvi, probably the 780, I read where the touch screens on the 700 series nuvis are slightly less sensitive to touch and require slightly more pressure from the finger tips. Will applying invisibleShield on a 700 series nuvi require even more pressure to be needed from the finger tips?

Applying InvisibleSHIELD to the display (including the nuvi 780) doesn't change the amount of pressure required to operate the touchscreen. FYI - Garmin seems to have corrected the screen sensitivity issue on the nuvi 780: the unit I tested had the same touchscreen sensitivity as my old nuvi 660.

I been using it and I recommend it. It adds additional protection and it is cheap enough.

I think I am going to offer it at my store

The plastic with this product is the same as the one used for window tinting, the clear version of course. The window tint company's mix water and simple dish soap as an adhesive. The bubbles and excess water are squeeged out and the product is allowed to dry. Its the same plastic and same adhesive at a fraction of the cost.
"Applesauce Polish" is a product sold by numerous car polish companys. Meguiars sells a product called 'PlastX' Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. At a fraction the cost of Applesauce. FYI

Based on a previous comment, I decided to try "Best Skins Ever" www.bestskinsever.com.

They have an uncut sheet at 9" X 3.75" that was big enough for me to cut 2 screen protectors for a 4.3" nuvi, 1 for a 3.5" nuvi, and 1 for an original Zune. All for $8 (including shipping).

Also got their pre-cut kit for a Motorola RAZR. It was tough getting the corners to stick, but in the end all the application worked out very well.
