Zoombak's Advanced GPS Car & Family Locator is a relatively low-cost Assisted GPS (A-GPS) tracking solution designed to help you locate your car, and your loved ones in it, and help bring them home safely. The system, which retails for $249, plus a $15/month service fee, can be carried as a portable tracking device or permanently installed in a vehicle. The company also sells a pet-friendly version for $199, which is identical except that it includes a dog collar instead of a vehicle installation kit.
I tested the Zoombak Car & Family Locator and found out how the system competes with other tracking and locator solutions out there. Is Zoombak the low-cost, easy to use tracking solution you've been searching for? Read on.

My daughter and I bought the zoombak personal tracker just for them to take on vacation, so we could keep track of her 6 year old daughter while at Disney World... This tracker is terrible at first we couldn't even locate them in Florida at all. After 24 hours of trying to locate them I finally put in their zip code at where they were staying and still couldn't pick them up. The next day I finally located them at the zip code I put in, but they had not been there for about 10 hours. I called the customer service department which was no help. They could not locate them either, and asked for the zip code of where they were suppose to be when I told them I didn't know it, they told me that there was nothing that they could do if the device was not picking up a signal.. " so if someone was to grab my grandaughter they would not be able to help us locate her" again I was told if it's not getting a signal there was nothing they could do until it git a signal..
I am very unhappy with this device. How can it locate anything if you need to keep putting in a zip code? You would not know this information whether it was your car, dog or child.
For $ 150.00 plus a monthly fee this is a ripoff

Thank you for taking the time to post this information. I was going to purchase this product, after reading your review and several others on the web I am moving on to something else!
After a week of using the Zoombak, I can say it is not ready for prime-time yet. I live in an area with very good coverage according to the coverage map. There is a delay of up to 30 minutes in accuracy of tracking, and only a 50/50 chance that it is even able to be tracked.
As I have paid a year in advance for the service, I can only hope for improvements at this point. But if you are in need of accurately tracking something or someone, this device is not for you...yet.
Not Ready for the prime time is a understatement, not ready at all is the right answer. I have spent most of the morning attempting to track my locator, with no success. The unable to locate message is not what I thought i was paying for.
mine is not working either, oh well.
This device is terrible, works at best 5 % of the time,
do not buy it!!!
I have this locater and it works great. No problems. You have to make sure you place it in a location that it can recive a signal. I locate several times a day. The first locate you my have to do it twice. It wont work in buildings. Test it in differnt location in the car or what every your putting it in.
I purchased this device 11 days ago and still am unable to get this locator to work. I have been with their Tech Support (in Costa Rica) for the past 11 days and they don't have the authority to make a decision and exchange the defective device. Zoombak Engineers are located in Pennsylvania and all they do is give lip service and don't correct the issue. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired....extremely poor service. What they advertise is great but what you get is not worth the time, money and effort you put into this product with their Tech Support. I do not recommend this product to anyone.
I purchased the system for my dog. The charge lasts a very short time and requires a charge. If you loose your dog while he is not waering the collar or for any reason want to cancel the service,IT CAN NOT BE REACTIVATED. I WAS TOLD TO THROW IT AWAY
Agreed, this product is for the most part; worthless and or unreliable! I have had this unit for about 8 mo, and has worked for two. I worked with a person for a couple of months who seemed interested in helping me at first, but it turned out to be a smoke screen. If you have this device for more than 3mo, even if they are helping you to resolve a problem that can’t be resolved, you won't be able to return it, and will be stuck with a useless piece of $150 plastic like I am. Out-sourced Customer support tells me that I will have to wait indefinitely for a resolution, which is complete non-sense. Being that this is the fourth device they have sent me, I seriously doubt that they will resolve this no location problem or return any of my investment. My advise is to “BEWARE of this company” (ZOOMBAK), before you lose your money and time dealing with local employees who lie and out-sourced employees who really don't care either way.
I wish I read these comments before I bought this paper weight. Mine only worked one time when I had my mother-in-law stand in the middle of my street (avoiding standing under trees) on a sunny day. What a waste of money!
Tried Zoombak for 4 days and returned it. My wife has Alzheimer's and I needed Text as to her location when she walks. Received a total of 2 text messages. The waypoint zones are limited to 100 yards circles min. When I called customer service, they indicated texts are only sent out every 15 min. My question was "do you know how far someone can walk in min"? I use GPS in my car, as stated previously, very far from prime time. Although a locate request on line was accurate. If you buy, have a computer in front of you constantly. Better yet, don't buy.
