It's here! Whether you're a starving student or a money-is-no-object type, GPSmagazine has the info you need to buy the right GPS this holiday.
It's good news for GPS shoppers this year; prices have dropped steadily, and it's now possible to buy a decent GPS for under $200, and even the more expensive units are considerably cheaper than last year's round-up.

FYI
TomTom ONE flying off the shelves at teh $149 price, can't keep them in stock and it's currently the #1 seller for any stores.
I think TomTom should hold a stead 30% market share if not more this Q4.
TomTom came a long way and I think they are getting much better.
If you are thinking of stretching to $209 for the Magellan Maestro 3200, you might want to consider stretching a little more for the 3210 which, at $224 on Amazon, has 6 million POIs (5x the 3200) and adds the AAA tour book feature which was rated highly on this site in the 3140 review.
I started by looking at the TomTom ONE v3 but then moved on to the nuvi 200 based on the poor reviews here of the TomTom's routing algorithm (really liked that update-your-own-map feature though). Then I looked at the Magellan 3140 which seemed to offer a lot more for the price point (has text-to-speech, bluetooth, multipoint routing, and optional traffic). I finally settled on the 3210 though, which is currently $25 less than the 3140 on Amazon. It doesn't have text-to-speech, bluetooth, or traffic, but has more POIs than the 3140 and is advertised as the smallest/thinnest mobile GPS on the market. Looks like a lot of bang for the buck, I just hope I don't have to call them for support!
Thanks for the great, detailed reviews here. I hope you have a Maestro x2x0 in the review queue!
Why don't you include the LG LN740 in the below $300 GPS. I think Amazon has it for less than $300.
Hey great article. I just wanted to know how much you would recommend the HP Ipaq 310 gps unit, which is $379 right now at Buy.com. Seems to have all the bells and whistles that garmin does. Just wondering what you think of the quality of HP in this line.

how about the magellan maestro 4040, $330 at circuit city? and if you're a aaa member, you can get a discount code for 10% off, bringing it under $300...
As of this morning Amazon is selling both the Magellan Maestro 3200 and the Maestro 3210 for under $200. Inexplicably, the 3210 is selling for less than the 3200 ($189.99 vs. $198.95)! I'm loving that post-shipping price guarantee (this will make over $60 in refunds since I bought at $253 two weeks ago)!
The TomTom GPS models have two problems:
1. Sometimes the bottom bar shows the current street, at other times it shows the street after the next turn.
2. POI details does not include address or phone number.
My Kids buy me a TTGO720, I'm looking into the other 2(Garmin 680 $ 479.00 from COSTCO and the maestro 4250 $ 399.00 from best buy)If any body there can give me a pic I do Appreciated.Thank you. LUIS.
I got a great deal at Futureshop, I bought the LG LN740($140) and the Tomtom One 3rd($130) and the Navigon 5100($277 - $50 mail in rebate)at Futureshop. The reason is that I have 30 days to decide which one to keep while the price is at the bottom before it go up again.
The first 2 are flying of the shelves at that time and it is not posible to get another for the same price, but I like The Navigon it has better graphic and free lifetime trafic data.
For almost the same price, the LG is much better device then the Tomtom, easier to get to the address and better POI, the Tomtom also tell me to turn left where it is forbidden, which is correspond to this GPSmagazine buyer's guide the LG is classed 6th. I didn't test the Navigon yet. But the Tomtom One get more positive review on the net.
So it is still hard for me to decide on which one to keep for the price I paid since some review are based on the much higher price and give lower mark, but for the price I paid, Which one is a keeper?
Thanks.
Need to do some Website cleanup, the right-hand side of all your text in the under-$200 review. is cutting out whole words, really annoying and makes it hard to use the info.
