According to PriceGrabber.com, the number one selling GPS unit for Black Friday was the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition. It ranked in number three overall just below the Nintendo Wii (Who didn’t see that coming) and the Microsoft Zune 30GB.

The Magellan Maestro 3100 took number eight in the top sellers.

I'm probably looking at a different pricegrabber.com page because I see TomTom and Garmin as the top (3&7 resp. of all products and 1&2 resp. of GPS, Magellan is waaaay behind them).

The last sentence says it all- great comment! Skip the MP3 player, the photo viewer, and audio book players, etc. and concentrate on excellent routing!

Hi Fletcher,
Very nice to meet you at Thanksgiving! I'm digging your blog - I'll definitely point my family and friends to it. You can check out my blog (on Gothic Lolita fashion) at www.lacarmina.com PS: Basil's with me and getting loads of attention!

OK, I sprung for the Nuvi 680 at Costco on Friday. I know I read this before on this site but I'll ask it anyway. What procedure do I do to see if this unit arrives with 2008 maps & with/without SirF chip. If not 2008 maps can I update without charge?

When I called about a recently purchased c330 (I know, I know; I returned it already), Garmin was willing to provide the 2008 maps for free, once I registered the unit.

(I didn't register it, choosing to return it and get the Nuvi 200 for $50 more, but it sounds like a newly purchased unit is entitled to the latest maps. YMMV.)

Again, you get what you paid for! The $79 Mio is worth $79! With that said, it is what it is and quality is going away to make way for price. We all lose.

The tomtom one 3rd edition was discounted $100 for the purpose of flooding the market with their product. Reasons aside, at this price, this is truly a great bargain for what this unit does. I think this is the rare case where you do indeed get more than you paid for!

Herb fellows is right. I purchased one of those TomTom ones on black friday. It work so well that I sold my Garmin nuvi 350. I did indeed get more than I paid for!
