Yet more proof that the elusive Dash Express connected GPS device is really happening, the device recently hit the FCC's leak-prone website for approval. Dash must be darn close to a final product for it to be already sent to the FCC. Let’s just hope it passes muster with the fine folks at the FCC, otherwise that could spell delays for the estimated Q1 2008 launch.



I was thinking about this as well, and here is what I predict... If you live in a metro that provides high-speed cellular data, you would be able to d/l all types of updates wirelessly. If you have "standard data", you could get traffic info and patches, but probably not full-scale map updates. Both of these services would likely come with a montly fee. Someone's gotta pay the cell company. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee, you'd use the USB cable to get your updates the old fashioned way. We'll see how this pans out.
