Maps are so plain…Wouldn’t an aerial view help you get a better idea of the area your driving in. That's the thinking behind Bleusens' GO1 and GO2, both of which include actual satellite maps that can be overlayed on top of the area your driving in. Sounds like a great idea, but like all things GPS, the devil's in the details...

I love the idea! An immediate advantage I can think of is it will help you navigate in "blackout" zones (for example, inside a huge mall complex where the navigation database has no information). If there is a text overlay with street names it will be even better.
From a technical perspective, assuming the satellite map maintains a fixed resolution during navigation (i.e., no zooming in or out happens during navigation), coordinate based scrolling of a graphic image should not add much processing overhead. That said, the changes between adjacent maps need to be made to appear seemless. It will require loading of the adjacent map into memory once the current map is nearing its edge. More RAM and a 500MHz processor should be enough, IMHO.
Well, from the looks of the video I saw, it does zoom in while driving, but if anything, it looked like it would be helpful.
