That really is not so good for those of us who just got our Nuvi 360, one month ago yesterday! Think I have a claim Fletch?

just purchased a nuvi350 and a tomtom one and compared their real time operation simultaneously for 3 days locally. The nuvi has the NT2008 maps and 4.7 firmware bought from Best Buy in Canada. The nuvi 350 was simpler to use and ultimately was consistently better at more efficient routing than the Tomtom along with having an easier to use and larger POI database. Tomtom has some good features also but the inferior routing is what made me decide to keep the nuvi as I'll trust it's routing more when I travel.

I bought the new maps for my Nuvi 660 on the 17th and called today to see if they have shipped. They had not and won't for a few weeks.

Is the City Navigator North America NT 2008 the same as City Navigator version8??? I bought the Nuvi 350 off amazon and it said it comes with v8 preloaded on it. Is this the latest and greatest???

The City Navigation NA 2008 is the latest version. The V8 is older. (It's like the 2008 version is V9.0)...

Correct, City Navigator 2008 (v9) is the latest version.

BTW, if you bought your GPS after May 1st, Garmin will give you the update for free.

I bought a nuvi 360 this week. I registered it on garmin.com. Will Garmin automatically send me the updated maps?

No - you'll have to call Garmin support and they'll send you the DVD.

Thanks,

I called them and they will ship me the updated maps.

I was supposed to be able to get the free updated maps from garmin.com but there is a problem with their site which will not be fixed until a few weeks.

I'm glad to see people are having good luck getting the free map upgrades. I called Garmin myself about a week ago to ask about getting the maps free if purchased after May 1st, and the guy I spoke with said that was untrue - they always charge for map upgrades. So I put off ordering my unit for a few weeks to make sure I got one with new maps...but it was for no reason I guess.

Consequently I posted a comment on here asking for clarification (or confirmation) on how to order the free maps, but my comment never showed up...

I have heard some rumors of free 2008 updated maps from Garmin if you buy a nuvi after May 1st. I have asked some tech support at Nuvi, but no one is sure about that. There is any part in Garmin's website refering to free 2008 map updates. Anyone know?

I just purchased a 200W from QVC on 1/17/08 & I was wondering if it had the latest mapping for 2008. If not do I still need to pay for updates for 2008.
