LG (with help from PR firm Ogilvy) put together an extravagant night of live music, food, open bar, and a sneak peak at LG's new product line, including a hands-on session with LG's yet-to-be-announced LN790 GPS, at Christie's Auction House in Manhattan.

Fletch
Have you noticed the similarity of the LG LN740 features that almost copies Garmin, TomTom, Magellan and NavMan.
I found many features interesting since I can say that's from Garmin, that's from Magellan and so on.
I think the street price for the LN790 is a bit high for the current market, I would guess a better price point would be at $499 and have the LG740 price at $399.
This Q4, most PNAV unit that will move will be in the $299-$399 price point, not so much the $89.99 units and the $699.99 units I think.
Do you know if the music will mute when it offers turn by turn direction on the LN790?
I think LG will be the next power house in NA, they have the resource and the shelf space so it will be great to see yet another player in the PNAV market!
With all the price reductions and new model that will be introduce this second half of the year, I wonder why anyone is buying units now? The price is so reasonable that everyone should go out and buy two or three!
Looks like a nice unit but why movies? When you are driving a car, you should be looking at the road ahead.
They should have invested the money spent on that one into something associated with navigation. It is afterall a GPS device, not a home entertainment center. Who wants to watch a movie on a 4.3 inch screen anyway.
I just hope that the driver behind me isn't watching "Gone with the Wind" when I have to come to an emergency stop. They just lost some points with me!
Corrections to make:
1. No split screen while driving. LG isn't stupid enough to have movie playback available while driving.
2. LN790 is able to playback MP3 files while navigation is in operation.
It will pause the music automatically when giving voice guidance.
3. Bluetooth audio streaming is from bluetooth abled phones to the PND not from PND to other devices.
