Comments for Bargain Alert: Costco Selling Garmin nuvi 660 for $499

Garmin nuvi 660

Costco is selling the Garmin nuvi 660 for $499 -- that's about $100 bucks less than everywhere else. The deal expires on June 11th, so if you've been waiting for the price to drop on the venerable 660, now's the time.

The nuvi 660 is my current Editor's Choice GPS for the "Money is no Object" crowd -- although at this fire-sale price I just may have to call it the best deal in town. Hit the jump for the link to Costco's online store page.

My question is: You just announced the new Garmin nuvi 200W & 250W for July 2007 sales. Will this change the price of your highly recommended Garmin nuvi 660? I plan to buy one very soon.
I was completely ignorant about any GPS until I started researching in February on & off. I found it very overwhelming until I somehow stumbled across your website last week. I am forever grateful to you. Even Consumer Reports had outdated info rating no recent new models. Your comparison article between tom tom, magellan & garmin nuvi were invaluable. I was leaning toward a Magellan Maestro until I read it. The Garmin nuvi's format are the only directions I can understand. My brain needs to be told to go straight on Central Ave & make a right on Post Rd.--NOT, go west 50 yds & turn right. Forget, all your more important info about maps, routing etc.(Boy, did I learn alot!) I still MUST have simple English to get where I am going; and my husband is as mentally challenged as I am unfortunately. Also, your step by step instructions & pictures about specific models:what's in the box, how to attach to windshield, etc. are providing an invaluable service to the public. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I'm considering replacing my Magellan 760 with a this Nuvi 660 and had two questions.
One was answered by Elise's comments regarding the user friendly instructions. Thanks for those comments.

The other question is this: Does anybody know if it is possible to export the saved addresses (previous destinations) into this Nuvi or will it be necessary to start all over again?

I can't seem to pry this info out of Garmin. They don’t have a pre-purchase help line.

You can transfer the saved addresses easily from one Garmin unit to another. To transfer from a Magellan RoadMate to a nuvi, you might want to check out G7ToWin (http://www.gpsinformation.org/ronh/)

Gary, Have you tried one of Garmin's support numbers: 1-800-800-1020; 1-88-442-7646. I did not purchase one yet, and they were very helpful when I called. They were very willing and able to answer all the questions I had.
