Magellan has posted firmware version 1.22 for the Maestro 4040 on their website. Downloading the update requires that you register your Maestro's serial number with Magellan. After completing the registration process, I was unable to download the update, and was instead returned to Magellan's homepage without explanation. Now it looks like Magellan has pulled the update altogether from the site. Take a look at the following screenshots for the whole story:

Hmmm. Lotsa fixing to be done over at Magellan, including making their download links actually work. :)
Let's hope that they pulled it because they realized that while at the maneuver list it would be nice if the list came up instantaneously instead of the hourglass showing up (and the inability to scroll till it diappears) when you route a trip from, say, CT to NY. And better et, while at the maneuver list to make a route exclusion that actually makes sense and works instead of that "excluded" road showing up again after recalculation.
Then, hopefully they will work on the more difficult fixes like creating a TTS that assists rather than confuses and a map view that zooms in as you veer into each turn/maneuver rather than zooming out well before the turn/maneuver, disorienting you in the whole process.
Boy Fletch, this is not the kind of press Magellan need! But there IT guy should fix this ASAP.
Sorry to see this, they are rushing and when they rush, they have issues such as this.
Sorry to see that you have to post this, they don't need anymore negative press
I check on the Magellan site frequently. For a while, they had a link on the 2200T Crossover update page (still not available, BTW) which downloaded a firmware patch for the Roadmate 3050. It was there for almost a week.
On Magellan site firmware for the Magellan RoadMate 3050T states it will be available after June 6th. Do you know what year they are referring to? Did you ever get the firmare for you Magellan? Do you know were I can link up to get this firmware? My unit is frozen and I don't know if I could give up on it and buy different unit. Please help if you can.

Seems like the download is available now. What surprises me is, if all they are fixing is the ability to see the maneuver list before driving and enabling auto-night mode, why should this wipe out your saved addresses as noted on their site? If they are fixing more than that, I can MAYBE understand losing your data (though this never happens with Garmin updates). But if that were the case, why wouldn't they list all the fixes besides the two mentioned?
I found that with the 1.22 update, it did NOT wipe my saved addresses.
Today is June 22, 2007, and
I just downloaded the updated firmware 1.22 from
Magellan's web-site, also
note I downloaded to my "Vista" windows without
any problems, it went very
good.
I drive a big-truck, and I
need good directions, so far (knock on my head wood)
the sexy voice has been right there in my pass. sent, telling me where to go, (ahem)
I have 2 3100s and a 4000. My husband is a truck drive and needs the firmware update which won't download. Called Magellan....so sorry...try again later. No maps available for any of the 3 until September 2008..if then.. Maps 2 years out of date! No more Magellans in this house.
