On February 4th, 2007, Garmin will air a 30-second commercial during SuperBowl XLI, making Garmin the first ever GPS manufacturer to advertise during the SuperBowl. The spot will air midway through the Super Bowl's second quarter. According to Garmin’s press release, the commercial is filmed in a sixties-esque grainy 35-mm film style, and shows an regular Joe lost behind the wheel. The Garmin man AKA Ultraman was targeting Japanese kids back in the late 60's early 70's. He is consider a Japanese super hero like Superman I guess.
I don't think this commercial received the positive reaction that Garmin has desired.
Maybe the commercial is so bad that people will talk about it after the super bowl. It is a ridiculous commercial for such a successful company.
Agree, this commercial is on the retarded side no matter how positive garmin tries to spin it on there blog.
Watch the Garmin Ultraman (G-MAN) commercial last night and the commercials reviews after the show. It was so bad that NO ONE even mentioned it.
The worst part about all this is that it didn't even make it in to the TEN WORST commercials, so this G-Man commercial will just be a memory to few and forgotten or lost by many in a day or two.
Maybe Garmin will do some polling of their own next time before making this type of expensive marketing mistake.
Would have been better if they used the 2.5M in someway to improve their product features.
Garmin should not give up their day job!
The target market for this ad is over the hill acid rock fans from the 70's who get lost in traffic. And it looks like a local 5th grade class created all the props.
