I dont think that its banned using FM transmitter at EU countrys. Atleast its not banned at Finland. It was banned, but not anymore.
So, you are basically paying a couple hundred dollars for just the European map set (nuvi 660 vs. 670) right? How much does it cost to buy the separate Europe map set and plug it into your 660?

Iam getting ready to move to Japan and want to buy a Garmin Nuvi here in the USA. Which widescren model would you recommend for my automobile that comes with Preloaded maps of Japan? Or, do I need to buy the maps seperately? If I buy Japan maps seperately, how do I download them into the GPS? Sorry! Lost on al this hightech stuff. Aloha, Mr Conn

I bought the 370 for primary use in the States however, I intend to travel abroad, the added language tranlation features as well as additional maps are an amazing benefit over it's little brother the 360. I purchased mine on sale from Dell.com and it was right at $400usd on sale. You just have to watch for the sales.
Would you please let me know where I can download or buy maps for the middle east and the gulf countries
