Garmin's StreetPilot c550 was one of my favorite GPS units of last year. It shares the same mapping data, routing engine, and POI database as the nuvi 660, but its interface is even easier to use than the nuvi because the StreetPilot doesn't have all the features the nuvis have. If you want a really simple unit that even your grandparents could use, you can't beat the simplicity of the StreetPilot c550. The StreetPilot c580 is identical to the c550, but adds MSN Direct capabilities to the mix. Suggested retail price for the c580 is $857.13, so I'd expect a street price of something like $799.

So, does the new traffic/power adaptor plug into the unit just like it did on the c550 or has Garmin implemented a new design path, like for the Nuvi 660?
Also, my car has a 12V plug an inch below my cigarette plug, both operate and put out the same power, so how much more effective is the new traffic/power adaptor than the older one that stuck straight out in terms of "getting in the way"?
Does this new traffic/power adaptor have the same blinking lights like the older one for the c550 and nuvi 660 for traffic updates, so you also get physical light warnings...because there are the red and green lights on the traffic/power adaptor itself...? I've never seen it, just played with the c550 and nuvi 660 units.
Thanks for your answers to this Fletch for those who weren't able to attend such a grand event.
How does the MSD Direct traffic information compare to TMC or XM?
From the screenshots in the nuvi 680 first looks, it seems that MSN gives information on local roads too, whereas the screenshots in the c550 review only shows highways.
Also, which one you think is more reliable? I went to the MSN Direct website, and it is full of broken links!
wow, i just got one for $349
