I have a Garmin0 and I am badly impressed about their Navteq maps. When I compared TomTom and Garmin for an area, TomTom maps were accurate, Garmin missing many streets in a city area built 4 years ago!!!!
Unless TomTom is gathering Canadian map data from other sources in addition to TeleAtlas, I'm not sure if their latest release will be all that great north of the border. If you look at the supposedly up-to-date TeleAtlas maps at http://www.teleatlas.com/MapInsight/index.htm , and look at the Ottawa, ON area, you will see MANY streets simply labeled "Regional Rd".
FYI, I see NAVTEQ also has an online map viewer at http://mapreporter.navteq.com .
Checked on the TeleAtlas map for a new road thats in village that is newly developed and it is there. Navteq gave me a different location. TeleAtlas is more updated.
