you probably know this, but check that your iway500c has the latest software upgrade, v 1.7.0 (6/15/06), available at Lowrance's website. Sounds like their are a lot of enhancements and features added.
Maybe you will comment about the announced iway 600c and 250c models that are due out soon. Do you have any idea if the GPS chip will be more sensitive? It does not appear that they will use the sirfIII chip, but I would hope it would be an upgrade from whatever they are using in the 500c and 350c.
I bought a iway 500c Lowrance GPS last December for a trip we were taking. It lasted only 10 hours before it quit working. It will not work any more. Lowrance will not honor the waranty nor will they service the unit. Their excuse is that they cannot get parts anymore. So now I am stuck with a very expensive piece of junk. I would not reccomend anybody buying a Lowrance product as they do not seem to want to waranty their products. Unless you have a lot of money to waste, buy a other brand of GPS.

Where can I find a legend for the map symbols used on my iway500c?
