Retailers are more desperate than ever for your hard-earned greenbacks this year, and it's looking like there's going to be some pretty fantastic GPS bargains to be had this coming (Black) Friday. But be warned - not all GPS units are created equal, and you don't want to buy a stinker just because it was on sale.
Here's everything you need to know to snag a great GPS at an even better price this holiday:
I personally like to buy from Amazon, since they generally offer good prices, and have a great no-hassle return policy. All the GPS units below are on special Black Friday sale pricing all week, and are shipped directly from Amazon:
Update: Amazon has a special "Deal of the Day" for today only: Garmin nuvi 285WT for $129.99 (48% off)

I've looked through all the various Black Friday sales, and these appear to be the best prices offered on the following GPS units:
Some important free advice: All the GPS models I've listed above are good units that will serve you well. Unlike most of the useless stuff people buy during the holidays, a GPS will be a wonderful addition to your life and you'll quickly wonder how you survived without one. Prices are lower than ever, and this is a great time to buy your first GPS or replace an older model.
* Be cautious of ultra-cheap deals from brands you've never heard of. I recommend sticking with the major brands: Garmin, TomTom, Magellan, and buying from a reputable e-tailer or store with a good return policy. Also, be sure to read the GPSmagazine Buyer's Guide before making your purchase.
