The nuvi 1690 will include 2 years of free service, after which Garmin's nuLink connected services will cost $5 per month.

According to Garmin, customers can also use the nuLink white page telephone listing feature to search for a person's street address by their first name, last name or phone number.

Like other recent nuvi models, the 1690 includes Lane Assist with Junction View, ecoRoute for fuel efficient routing capabilities, and Bluetooth for hands-free calling.

Ciao! is Garmin's new social networking platform that will allow you to share your whereabouts with friends and family, and see each other's position on the map.
