Figure 167: Status Bar Position
This setting lets you choose how you prefer to see the status bar displayed on the map: horizontally (at the bottom of the screen), or Vertically (at the right-hand side of the screen).

Figure 168: Show On The Status Bar
Some people, myself included, find the amount of information displayed by default on the status bar cluttered and difficult to read from the driver's seat. Thankfully, TomTom's software allows you to customize how much or little information you prefer to see on the status bar.

Figure 169: Show on The Status Bar, Page 2
Note that "Show lane guidance" refers to the smaller, non-3D lane guidance graphic that is displayed on the status bar, and does not refer to the 3D Advanced Lane Guidance view.
"Show leeway to arrival time" displays how early/late you will arrive at your destination (if you provided a desired arrival time).

Figure 170: Voice Control Preferences
The Voice Control Preferences screen lets you disable/enable voice control, and view a list of all available voice commands.

Figure 171: Automatic Zooming
Automatic Zooming, enabled by default, causes the map to automatically zoom in to a closer street-level view when approaching turn maneuvers. Once a turn is complete, the map automatically zooms back out.

You can even customize how you'd like to handle street names and house numbers.

Figure 175: IQ Routes
I can't think of any reason you'd want to disable IQ Routes, since my testing showed it significantly improved the GO 740's routing logic, but there's an option to turn it on or off.

Figure 176: Speaker Preferences
Audio output can be switched between the internal speaker, a Bluetooth (A2DP) device, or the Line-out cable.
Note: Earlier TomTom GO models included the option to route audio to your car's factory stereo via an internal FM transmitter. That feature has been removed via a recent software update, and there's no longer an option to use the FM transmitter.

Figure 177: Music Speaker Preference
The GO 740 has separate audio output settings for the spoken instructions and music playback. That means you can use different outputs for music and audio navigation prompts. By default, both are set to use the GO 740's internal speaker.
