Figure 4: nuvi 785T vs 265WT
While the nuvi 265WT is constructed of matt black plastic, the 785T has a thin protective layer of rubber-like material on the front and back. The 785T's glossy black finish also sets it apart from the 265WT, as does the addition of a headphone jack on the side, and an external GPS antenna connector on the back of the unit. The 785T is also about 20% heavier than the 265WT, and has a powered windshield mount for quick docking and undocking.

Figure 5: Garmin nuvi 265WT, Rear
A single speaker is located at the rear of the nuvi 265WT. Used for both power and connecting the nuvi to your PC/Mac, the mini-USB connector is also located on the back of the device. The nuvi 265WT has an internal GPS antenna instead of the fold-out style patch antenna used on the 300 and 600-series nuvis.
It's not visible, but the internal GPS antenna is located underneath the Garmin logo.

Figure 6: Garmin nuvi 265WT, Left Side
The nuvi 265WT comes pre-loaded with maps of North America (United States, Canada, & Puerto Rico) stored on the internal memory. The unit has 2GB of internal memory, of which about 630 MB is unused and available for storing photos, music, and Audiobooks.
If you need more space, or want to install additional maps, the SD card slot provides essentially unlimited memory.

Figure 7: Garmin nuvi 265WT, Top
The power key is located on the top of the nuvi 265WT. Sliding the power switch to the left turns the unit on or off. Sliding the switch to the right locks the screen.

Figure 8: Garmin nuvi 265WT, Right Side
The microphone is located to the right of the LCD display. When paired with a compatible Bluetooth cell phone, the nuvi 265WT can act as a hands-free speakerphone.

Figure 9: Garmin nuvi 265WT's Suction-Cup Mount and Cradle
The nuvi 265WT is mounted to the vehicle's windshield using a suction-cup mount and cradle. The cradle snaps onto the end of the mount, forming a ball and socket joint that can easily be rotated into the desired viewing angle.

Figure 10: Attaching the Cradle to the Mount
The cradle has a socket in the rear that snaps onto the tip of the suction cup mount. Connecting the cradle to the mount is simply a matter of pressing the cradle firmly onto the mount until the ball snaps into the socket.

Figure 11: nuvi 265WT, Docked
This ball-and-socket style mount is easy to use, holds up well against normal wear and tear, and keeps the GPS firmly in place while driving.

Figure 12: nuvi 265WT, Docked
To remove the cradle, twist the cradle to the right or left until it snaps off the mount.
Garmin's mounting hardware is excellent. The windshield mount holds the nuvi firmly in place and vibration-free when driving, even at highway speeds. The ball-and-socket joint on the windshield mount makes it easy to adjust the nuvi's viewing angle with one hand, and without having to turn any knobs or slip any levers.
However, unlike the nuvi 7x5 windshield mounts, the nuvi 265WT's mount isn't powered. That means you'll have to connect the 12v power cable to the GPS's mini-USB plug on the back of the device each time you mount the 265WT in the car.

Figure 13: FM Traffic Receiver
The nuvi 265WT includes an FM Traffic Message Channel (TMC) receiver integrated into the cigarette lighter power adapter.

Figure 14: Traffic Receiver, Explained
The included traffic receiver provides free, ad-based traffic information that doesn't require a subscription. The receiver is nicely integrated into the power adapter, so there's only one cable running to the nuvi

Figure 16: Adhesive Mounting Disc
An adhesive mounting disc is included for those looking to mount the nuvi 265WT on the dashboard rather than the windshield. I'm personally not a big fan of this method, as it's difficult to remove the mounting disc later without damaging your car.
FYI - a better option is to use a friction mount, as it's less permanent and can easily be concealed when leaving the car unattended.

Figure 17: USB Cable
A standard USB cable is included, and can be used to connect the nuvi 265WT to a PC or Mac, as well as charge the battery.
