It's still unverified, but rumors are flying that TomTom is about to release the GO 940 LIVE.
The GO 940 LIVE is said to feature wireless GPRS connectivity for real-time traffic information and fuel prices, and leaked screenshots are showing Google search capabilities. Read on for more technical details and pricing information.
Pricing is reportedly set at around $730 suggested retail, making the GO 940 LIVE TomTom's most expensive GPS to date. The GPRS connectivity will also require a monthly service plan, which will cost between $10 and $15 dollars per month (three months of service will be included in the purchase price).
No official photos have been released yet, but the leaked 940 images look identical to the current GO 930, leading me to believe the GO 940 is essentially a GO 930 with GPRS connectivity. My guess is the GPRS module will be located in the 12v adapter or the windshield mount. This will keep the GPS slim, and avoid a Dash Express-like beast.
Just like the GO 930, the GO 940 LIVE will feature live traffic, IQ Routes, Lane Assist, and Enhanced Positioning Technology.
No official word on when the GO 940 LIVE will ship, but I'm guessing TomTom will make every effort to get this thing on retail shelves well before Black Friday (last week of November).
