Dash Navigation recently announced more exciting features for their much anticipated Dash GPS Device.
Dash plans to ship its GPS product for cars, the Dash Express, in early 2008 (crossing my fingers). For those not aware of the power of the dash, this navigation device is connected to the internet at all times. Its internet abilities allow Dash to peer-to-peer (with other Dash devices), report traffic conditions, and you can even program routes on to your device from your Web browser.
The extremely exciting news though is that Dash will be an open platform. This means that all you computer geeks out there can program your own third-party apps for the device. Imaging the GPS games or data collection apps one could create with this device.
The Dash will also be able to read RSS and KML (Google's geo-markup language) data from the web. Envision getting the latest news from the area, yard ales listings from Craigslist or valuable GPS info from GPSMagazine.com all on the road.
I don't know about you but I'm excited for this device to come out.
