Figure 19: Windshield Mount, Connected and Attached to the Glass
Once the quick-release mounting cradle has been attached to the flex-arm, the entire windshield mount can be attached to the vehicle windshield.

Lowering the locking lever at the base of the mount secures the mount to the windshield. Once locked in place, the flex-arm can be articulated into the desired angle.

Figure 21: Connecting the 12v Power Adapter
The Pocket LOOX N100 includes a 12v cigarette lighter adapter. A green LED indicates the unit is receiving power.

The combination USB/Power connector is located on the bottom of the Pocket LOOX. Notice the tiny red LED next to the plug, indicating the unit is receiving power.

Installing the Pocket LOOX N100 for use in a car is a simple matter, and takes no more than a few minutes.

Figure 25: Pocket LOOX N100, Mounted in the Car
Compared to other GPS devices designed for use in the car, the Pocket LOOX N100 looks quite small in the dashboard, and can be difficult to see from the driver's seat.

Figure 26: Pocket LOOX N100, Undocked
To release the Pocket LOOX from the windshield mount, press the release tab on the top of the mounting bracket and pull the Pocket LOOX towards yourself. To re-dock the GPS, insert the bottom of the unit first, then rotate the top into the clip until you hear it snap into place.
Overall the windshield mount worked well, holding the Pocket LOOX vibration-free and firmly in place even when driving at highway speeds. Docking and undocking the Pocket LOOX from the windshield mount's quick-release style bracket was easy.

Figure 27: Pocket LOOX N100, main menu
The first time the Pocket LOOX N100 is powered on, the main menu appears. From here the Navigator application can be launched, the Music player opened, the Utilities applications (world clock, calculator, brick breaker game, and Pac Man game) launched, and various settings can be configured via the Settings icon.
The interface looks slick so far: the icons are intuitive and the tabbed selection displays additional information about each application across the top of the display.

Figure 28: Launching the Navigation application
Tapping on the Navigator icon from the Main Menu launches the navigation application, provided by Navigon's Mobile Navigator software.
One of the first things I noticed about the Pocket LOOX N100 is that it takes a whopping 54 seconds to load the navigation application -- each and every time it is launched. You can leave the Pocket LOOX in the navigator mode when you turn it off, and it will remain in the navigator mode next time it's powered on, so the load time isn't quite as bad as it first sounds. Still, if you exit the navigator mode you'll have to wait 54 seconds next time it is launched.
