If you're looking for information on TomTom's yet-to-be-released GO 715, look no further than the FCC's own website. After leaking details on the TomTom ONE XL and TomTom DUO last week, the FCC is starting out the week with another leak, this time the TomTom GO 715. Complete with lots of photos and even the instruction manual and quickstart guide. Looks like the GO 715 will sport some interesting new features, including GSM, GPRS, an odometer, support for TomTom's new WEBFLEET service, and an updated interface.

One of the first things you notice about the TT GO 715 is the enormous power button on the top of the unit. The front of the unit will have a built-in microphone for hands-free speakerphone support (via a Bluetooth connected compatible phone), and an ambient light sensor for automatically switching the GO 715 from "Day" to "Night" mode.

Looking at the bottom of the GO 715, you'll notice that in addition to the SD Memory card slot, TomTom has added a SIM card slot.

Close-up of the SD Memory card slot and the SIM card slot, located on the bottom of the unit. The overall footprint of the GO 715 looks similar to the GO 910. Both units have a large, single speaker on the bottom of the unit.

Looks like the 715 uses the same windshield mount as the GO 910, which is bad news for anyone who remembers the whole GO 910 mount debacle. Let's hope this is actually a new and improved mount that just looks like the original GO 910 mount... Just like the GO 910 mount, the mount included with the GO 715 will have an audio output connector, external microphone input, external antenna connector, power connector, and something called the "TomTom Connector" (insert inappropriate Dutch joke here).

The GO 715 appears to use the same pc docking cradle as previous GO devices. The Home dock is used to charge the GO 715 as well as transfer data to the unit via your PC's USB port.

The external microphone that will ship with the GO 715. The unit also has a built-in microphone on the front of the unit. When I tested the GO 910, I found no difference in quality between the built-in microphone and the external mic. However, if you can't mount the GPS in the windshield and the unit is far away from you, then I could see the external microphone being useful.

Not sure what this mystery cable is. There's no reference to it in the manual. It looks like it could possibly be an iPod connector, but I can't be sure.

I've yet to meet single person who uses the TomTom remote control -- nevertheless TT is including the remote with the GO 715.

Included audio output cable.

Based on the photos, it looks like the GO715 is the same wide-screen form factor as the existing GO510/910 models.

The GO715 appears to use an internal hard drive for data storage - possible the same 20GB HDD used on the GO 910.
After reading the FCC docs, it's clear the GO 715 is intended for business users. The GPRS features include abilities like creating work orders, logging time, and routing text messages to the device. In all likelihood, the typical consumer won't have have use for the TomTom's WEBFLEET service. No word yet on pricing or an (ahem) official release date.
